HIKE THROUGH THE WORLD OF WINE
From Kaltern‘s village centre, but also starting from Lake Kaltern, you can easily reach the forests and meadows of Überetsch’s mountain world. The forest paths promise adventures, gravelled paths run through the shady green. You can not only hike through the mixed forest of the Mendel mountain and the Mitterberg mountain, also around the vineyards and through the apple orchards there are sunny paths and trails. As far as the eye can see, it becomes clear: this is the wine’s homeland.
120 kilometres of hiking trails lead criss-cross through Überetsch. From Lake Kaltern to places on 1800 metres above sea level – diversity in small distances. Kaltern is a hiking paradise.
COLOURFULNESS IN THE SOUTH OF SOUTH TYROL
At all times of the year, Kaltern is full of impressions which the natural and cultural landscape holds ready. In spring, the apple trees at the lakeside deck themselves with blossom crowns. In summer, the wine hills flourish with cypresses. In autumn, the mountain forests and vineyards are covered in a golden-yellow veil.
THE FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE VILLAGE AND ITS WINE
The wein.weg leads you in a big loop through the most beautiful districts of the village, through its sunny vineyards and down to Lake Kaltern. Signs on the ground show you in big letters the names of the wine zones. On this longer but less steep tour, hikers can enjoy wonderful impressions and views on the village and the surrounding landscape.
